Job Description:

JD- Paramedic Staff

Key Responsibilities:

  • Emergency Medical Response:

    • Respond to emergency calls promptly and safely.
    • Provide advanced life support (ALS), including but not limited to: administering medication, managing airway interventions, performing advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), and providing trauma care.
    • Perform patient assessments, triage, and determine appropriate medical interventions.
    • Monitor vital signs and other medical indicators during transport.
  • Patient Care:

    • Ensure accurate and complete documentation of patient care, treatments, and medications administered.
    • Communicate patient condition and care details effectively with hospital staff and medical personnel upon arrival at medical facilities.
    • Support patients and their families, providing reassurance and guidance through emergency situations.
  • Team Collaboration:

    • Work closely with other EMS personnel, including EMTs, paramedics, and emergency medical doctors.
    • Assist in managing patient care at the scene, coordinating with law enforcement, firefighters, and other first responders.
    • Participate in debriefings and reviews to improve service delivery and patient care.
  • Equipment Management:

    • Ensure medical equipment, including defibrillators, airway devices, IV kits, and medications, is functioning and properly stocked.
    • Perform regular checks and maintenance on vehicles and medical equipment.
  • Training & Development:

    • Participate in continuous education and training programs to maintain licensure and certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, BLS).
    • Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced EMTs and other EMS staff.
  • Regulatory Compliance:

    • Ensure adherence to all state, federal, and local healthcare laws, regulations, and protocols.
    • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) standards.
  • Health and Safety:

    • Follow established safety protocols to minimize the risk of injury to self and others.
    • Report incidents and accidents, providing accurate and timely information to supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited paramedic training program.
    • State certification and licensure as a Paramedic.
    •  years of experience in emergency medical services (EMS) preferred.
  • Certifications:

    • Valid state Paramedic license.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.

  • Skills and Abilities:

    • Strong clinical skills in emergency medical care and advanced life support techniques.
    • Ability to assess and make decisions in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members, patients, and other medical professionals.
    • Ability to maintain composure and provide calm, efficient care during stressful and emergency situations.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Physical fitness and stamina to handle the demands of the role, including lifting and moving patients.
