About the Role

Fittr is seeking a Managing Editor (Science) to lead its editorial team in creating a trusted, authoritative, and engaging health information platform. This role goes beyond editing - it requires vision, strategic thinking, and leadership to ensure that our content is not only scientifically accurate but also accessible and impactful.

Key Responsibilities

● Lead and mentor a team of writers, researchers, and curators, ensuring high-quality and credible health content.

● Oversee editorial processes: content planning, review, editing, and approval.

● Ensure scientific accuracy, clarity, and consistency across all published material.

● Shape and execute the long-term editorial strategy, aligning with organizational goals.

● Drive the platform’s growth by identifying emerging health trends, audience needs, and opportunities for expansion.

● Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, product, partnerships) to enhance reach and engagement.

● Establish and maintain editorial standards, style guides, and best practices.

● Represent Fittr’s editorial voice and ensure credibility with experts, institutions, and the broader public.

Qualifications

● Advanced degree: MD in Community/Preventive Medicine OR PhD in Public Health, Epidemiology, Preventive Medicine, or related disciplines.

● Broad understanding of health sciences (not limited to one niche such as fitness or nutrition).

● Proven editorial experience in science/health communication, with a track record of accuracy and clarity.

● Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams.

● Ability to translate complex health information into engaging, accessible content.

● Strong strategic thinking, with an understanding of content growth and audience development. Good-to-have: familiarity with digital marketing, SEO, and multi-platform content strategy.
